The ultimate packing list for camping holidays
Some tips for your holiday
Camping holidays are a Swedish tradition. This is old news. But what is the best way to pack for your trip? In this article, we list all the essential items you need to take with you when you go camping!
1. Equipping the caravan/motorhome
Don’t get stuck along the road with flat tires or arrive at the campsite with an empty LPG bottle. Novice caravan campers often forget technical caravan equipment on their first few trips.
Make sure you have the following equipment:
- Instruction manual for the caravan/motorhome
- Spare wheel & jack
- Toolbox
- Extra fuses
- Car rear view mirrors
- Cultural pressure wave
- Electricity cables with different adapters
- Filled LPG bottle
- Water cans
- Sewage tank
2. Kitchen equipment
The list of camping items for the kitchen is endless. The important thing is to pack the absolute essentials. If you miss something, you can always buy it afterwards.
The following kitchen equipment is good to have with you:
- All types of drinking glasses and mugs
- Plates, cutlery & barbecue utensils
- Bowls & tubs
- Measurement kit
- Plastic storage boxes
- A couple of pots & pans
- Small kitchen tools such as scissors, spatula, whisk & ladle
- Coffee makers (perhaps the most important on the list?)
- Microwave oven
- Plastic bags
3. Equipment for the awning
The awning – the portable living room. An awning can be decorated in just about any way, really. The only limit is your imagination. This is where you’ll spend much of your time on holiday – so make the awning as homely as possible.
Consider this equipment for the awning:
- Rubber mallet
- The tent itself
- Carpet for the awning
- Tent pegs
- Drying rack
- Storm lines & lashings
- Furniture, such as chairs & tables
- Some type of storage furniture
- Parasol
- grill

4. Personal items and miscellaneous
The technical gadgets, kitchen and awning are the mainstay of a camping packing list. But, there are still other things to consider about your camping packing list.
Pack clothes according to the weather and the season. Also depending on what you plan to do during your holiday. Every activity requires the right type of garment.
The important thing is not to pack too much stuff. Motorhomes and caravans often have limited storage space. Plan everything in advance so that you only bring what you really need.
Good luck with your holiday and camping packing list!
